Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Squalidus chankanensis tsuchigae (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: We determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Squalidus chankanensis tsuchigae (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae). It is 16,603 bp long, with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region, which is 927 bp long, located between tRNApro and tRNAphe. The overall base composition is as follows: 29.98% A, 16.86% G, 25.44% T, and 27.72% C, with a slight AT bias. These results provide necessary data for phylogenetic studies on Squalidus species.

We determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Squalidus chankanensis tsuchigae (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae). It is 16,603 bp long, with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region, which is 927 bp long, located between tRNApro and tRNAphe. The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial DNA genome of Sinocyclocheilus xiaotunensis was first reported by next-generation sequencing method. The entire length of mitochondrial genome is 16,588 bp and the nucleotide composition was made up of 32.3% A, 25.0% T, 27.2% C, and 15.5% G, indicating an A + T(57.3%) content is greater than C + G(42.7%). The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA(rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes.To provide further info on the conserved sequence block observed in the control region of the mitochondrial genome. This info is critical for future application and determination of taxonomic status of this species.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence and phylogenetic position of Sinocyclocheilus wumengshanensis (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequence of Sinocyclocheilus wumengshanensis from Yunnan Province in China was analysed using next-generation sequencing. The complete mitogenome was 16,585 bp in length and consisted of 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and one D-loop region. Nucleotide composition of the whole mitogenome was 30.5% A, 25.2% T, 27.0% C, and 17.2% G. The gene arrangement and nucleotide composition of the mitogenome of S. wumengshanensis were similar to those of other Sinocyclocheilus species. Phylogenetic analyses using mitogenomes of 12 species showed that 10 Sinocyclocheilus species clustered as one monophyletic clade with strong supports and S. wumengshanensis was closely related to S. grahami.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Sinocyclocheilus jii (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) and phylogenetic implications.

Project description:In this study, we first determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Sinocyclocheilus jii, which is an endemic species to Southwestern China. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,577 bp in length, consisting of 37 genes coding for 13 proteins, two rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, and one control region. Its gene arrangement pattern was identical to that of most vertebrates. Phylogenetic analysis using mitochondrial genomes of 11 species showed that nine Sinocyclocheilus species clustered as one monophyletic clade and S. jii was the most basal species on the phylogenetic tree of the Sinocyclocheilus fishes.

The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.

The overall base composition of N. benasi mitogenome is 31.8% for A, 27.4% for C, 15.9% for G and 25.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 41.3%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16 583 bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for N. benasi in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Leuciscus merzbacheri (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:Leuciscus merzbacheri (Zugmayer, 1912) is a cyprinid fish endemic to China, with a distribution range limited to Xinjiang Province. As a landmark species in the Junggar Basin, L. merzbacheri is of considerable significance regarding our understanding of the adaptive evolution of salt and alkali tolerance. In this study, the complete mitochondrial sequence of L. merzbacheri was obtained for the first time by high-throughput sequencing. The circular mitogenome is 16,609 bp in length and contains the standard 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes, which is similar to that of other fish. The mitogenome contents of A, T, C, and G were 27.9, 26.3, 27.1, and 18.7%, respectively. Phylogenetically, L. merzbacheri was located on a new branch near the base of the phylogenetic tree, thereby suggesting an early origin.

Project description:Schizothorax dulongensis Huang (1985) is an endemic species in China, which is mainly distributed in the Irrawaddy River and its tributaries. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced. Its length is 16,579 bp, containing 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and 13 PCGs. The phylogenetic results showed that S. dulongensis and these species from Brahmaputra River clustered a clade, and supported the Brahmaputra River and the Irrawaddy River have been reorganized of drainage.
