Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Epipedocera atra Pic (Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae: Tillomorphini).

ABSTRACT: Epipedocera atra is a common species of Epipedocera Chevrolat which distributed in South China and some countries in Southeast Asia. The complete mitochondria genome of E. atra was 15,662 bp in length, with 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes (tRNAs), and 2 rRNA genes (rRNAs). The nucleotide composition was highly A + T biased, accounting for 70.34% of the whole mitogenome. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that E. atra had a close relationship with Xylotrechus grayii White.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of the Neoplocaederus obesus (GenBank accession number: MT525962) was sequenced. The 15,683 bp long genome has the standard metazoan complement of 38 genes. These genes contain 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region. The nucleotide composition of the N. obesus mitogenome was A: 37.20%, T: 32.19%, G: 12.10%, C: 18.52%. The A＋T content was 69.39%, showing strong AT skew.

The first complete mitochondrial genome of Zoodes fulguratus (Gahan 1906) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae) and its phylogeny.

Project description:Zoodes fulguratus is a common species of Cerambycidae, reported from Vietnam, Nepal, Laos, Burma, and China. To date, no mitochondrial genomes of the genus Zoodes have been reported. In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the first mitochondrial genome of Z. fulguratus to discuss its phylogenetic relationship within the subfamily Cerambycinae. This mitochondrial genome showed the typical insect gene arrangement: a circular molecule of 15,885 bp long with 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs). The AT content of the whole mitogenome was 74.2% with a high asymmetric nucleotide presentation revealed by a positive AT-skew (0.067) and a negative GC-skew (-0.178), whereas the AT content of the A + T rich region was 80%. The Maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) phylogenetic analyses showed that Z. fulguratus is a sister clade of Gnatholea eburifera.

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Purpuricenus temminckii (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Purpuricenus temminckii (GenBank accession number MN527358) is 15,689 bp in length, and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a putative control region. The overall base composition is A (39.56%), C (17.52%), G (10.90%), and T (32.02%), with a high AT bias of 71.58%. All tRNAs have the typical cloverleaf structure except for trnS1 and the length of them range from 62 to 71 bp. Phylogenetic tree showed that P. temminckii was clustered with three Cerambycidae species, which agree with the traditional classification.

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Caryopemon giganteus Pic (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae).

Project description:We sequenced, assembled, and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome of the seed beetle Caryopemon giganteus, which represents the first report in the tribe Caryopemini from the subfamily Bruchinae of Chrysomelidae. The circular mitochondrial genome of the species contains 15,727 bases, 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a non-coding region. The GC content of the genome is 25.3%, which is higher than any other reported mitochondrial genomes within Bruchinae. The 16S ribosomal RNA gene and the 12S ribosomal RNA gene are 1284 and 835 bp in length, respectively. 12 PCGs started with the typical ATN codon, except for ND1 initiated with TTG. Five PCGs have the typical stop codon of TAA or TGA, while the remainder PCGs are terminated with incomplete stop codons (TA or T). The phylogenetic analysis based on a combination of 13 genes of the mitochondrial genomes of six species of Bruchinae and 23 species from other 10 subfamilies of Chrysomelidae recovered a generally well resolved and strongly supported tree topology, which shows that C. giganteus has the basalmost position in Bruchinae.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial DNA genome of the Oberea diversipes was reported. The genome was a circular molecule of 15,499 base pairs (bp), with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and an estimated 830 bp A + T-rich control region. The total base composition of the mitogenome was A-T bias, with 40.9% for A, 37.0% for T, 13.4% for C, and 8.7% for G. The molecular data presented here would be useful for further study of O. diversipes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Anoplistes halodendri (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Project description:In this study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of Anoplistes halodendri, which covers a total of 15,697 bp in length with 28.27% GC content. The complete mitochondrial genome is composed of 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and also contains 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs) and two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). Phylogenetic analysis of the A. halodendri with other 21 different species of Cerambycidae indicated that A. halodendri formed an isolated clade and belong to Cerambycinae. The results will be helpful to study the evolutionary relationship among the subfamilies of Cerambycidae.

There were 13 protein-coding genes (CDS), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and an AT-rich region. Phylogenetic analysis showed that A. unicolor was closely related to Spondylis buprestoides. This study provides useful genetic information for subsequent prevention of A. unicolor.

In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. buprestoides was determined by Illumina sequencing technology. The whole mitogenome was 15,837 bp in length with 20.05% GC content, which contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. buprestoides was closely related to Lepturinae. The sequence data of S. buprestoides could provide useful genetic information for the studies on phylogenetic and evolutionary of Cerambycidae.

This study revealed the length of the complete mitochondrial genome of A. perplexa which consists of 15,552 bp length with 39.8% A, 12.8% C, 8.4% G, and 39.1% T, respectively. The GC content of whole mitochondrial genome is 21.1%. The complete mitochondrial genome encodes 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one AT-rich region. This study can facilitate further research about genetic evolution as well as prevention and control strategy of A. perplexa.
