The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Huodendron tibeticum (J.Anthony) Rehder (Styracaceae).

ABSTRACT: Huodendron tibeticum (J.Anthony) Rehder, which plays an important role in ecology and economy, is a deciduous species of Styracaceae. The authors sequenced, assembled, and annotated the chloroplast (cp) genome of Huodendron tibeticum using the sequencing data from Illumina Novaseq platform in this study. The complete cp genome of H. tibeticum is 159,320 bp in length, including a large single-copy (LSC) region of 87,795 bp, and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,989 bp. It contains 130 genes, including 37 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes, and 85 protein-coding genes. The overall GC content of H. tibeticum chloroplast genome is 36.66%. The phylogenetic analysis suggests that H. tibeticum is a sister species to H. biaristatum in Styracaceae.

Project description:Styrax obassia Siebold & Zucc. is a distinct member of the family Styracaceae with fragrant and beautiful flowers. In this study, we determined the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of S. obassia in an effort to provide genomic resources useful for promoting its conservation. The circular genome of S. obassia was 157,910 bp in size and contained two inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions of 26,051 bp, which were separated by a large single copy (LSC) region of 87,528 bp, and a small single copy (SSC) region of 18,280 bp. A total of 133 genes are encoded, including 88 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The overall GC content of S. obassia genome is 36.97%. The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Melliodendron wangianum (Styracaceae).

Project description:Melliodendron wangianum Hu (Styracaceae) is a rare endemic tree of Styracaceae in China. In this work, we set forth the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of M. wangianum using next-generation sequencing. The entire cp genome was determined to be 157,196 bp in length. It contained large single-copy (LSC) and small single-copy (SSC) regions of 90,210 bp and 18,4561 bp, respectively, which were separated by a pair of 24,265 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The genome contained 128 genes, including 83 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The overall GC content of the genome is 37.19%. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the traditional family-level Taxonomy of Melliodendron, indicating that M. wangianum is closely related to a sister species to M. xylocarpum in Styracaceae.

Here we assembled and annotated the complete chloroplast (cp) genome. It is 158,758 bp in length and encodes 84 protein-coding genes, 37 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes and eight ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. The Maximum likelihood phylogenetic analysis confirm that S. huangmeiensis is a closely related but another different species to S. sarcocarpa.

In this study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of S. odoratissimus was determined by applying next-generation sequencing. The entire cp genome was determined to be 157,921 bp in length. It contained large single-copy (LSC) and small single-copy (SSC) regions of 87,524 bp and 18,301 bp, respectively, which were separated by a pair of 26,048 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The genome contained 130 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content of S. odoratissimus genome is 36.96% and the corresponding values in LSC, SSC, and IR regions are 34.80, 30.27, and 42.92%, respectively. A phylogenetic tree reconstructed by 31 chloroplast genomes reveals that S. odoratissimus is most related to Styrax grandiflorus Griffith.

In this study, we determined the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of M. xylocarpum in an effort to provide genomic resources useful for promoting its conservation. The entire cp genome was determined to be 157,165 bp in length. It contains the typical structure and gene content of angiosperm plastome, The plastome contains a large single-copy (LSC) and a small single-copy (SSC) regions of 90,193 and 18,486 bp, respectively, which were separated by a pair of 24,243 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The genome contained 130 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The GC content of M. xylocarpum genome is 37.21%. The complete plastome sequence of M. xylocarpum will provide a useful resource for the conservation genetics of this species as well as for the phylogenetic studies for Styracaceae. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that M. xylocarpum is closely related to Changiostyrax dolichocarpus H.S.Lo & D.Fang, but forms an independent evolutionary branch.

The plastome is 159,223 bp in length, with a large single-copy region (LSC) of 86,537 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 17,552 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 27,567 bp each. It contains 133 genes, including 87 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content was 36.9%, while the corresponding values in the LSC, SSC, and IR regions are 34.6, 30.4, and 42.6%, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis showed that C. tibeticum was closely related to its congeners and the classification of five subfamilies of Orchidaceae was also highly supported.
