Two new species of the genus Deltomerodes Deuve, 1992 (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Patrobini) from Xizang, China.

ABSTRACT: Two new species of the carabid genus Deltomerodes are described from Xizang (China): D. ovicollis sp. nov. (type locality: Doxong La, Mêdog) and D. conaensis sp. nov. (type locality: Rama La, Cona). The new species are amply described, illustrated, and their distributions are mapped. An updated key to all eight known Chinese Deltomerodes species is provided.

The taxonomic position and phylogenetic relationships of Oblatopyrochroagen. nov. are also discussed but appear difficult to resolve.

Contribution to knowledge of the genus Chydaeus in Xizang Autonomous Region [Tibet] and Yunnan Province, China (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Harpalini).

Project description:Five new species of the genus Chydaeus Chaudoir, 1854 are described from China: Chydaeus fugongensissp. n. (Shibali, Fugong County, Yunnan Province), Chydaeus gutangensissp. n. (Gutang, Medog County, Xizang Autonomous Region [Tibet]), Chydaeus hanmiensissp. n. (Hanmi, Medog County, Xizang Autonomous Region [Tibet]), Chydaeus asetosussp. n. (NE of Fugong, Yunnan Province), and Chydaeus baoshanensissp. n. (N of Baoshan, Yunnan Province). Taxonomic and faunistic notes on eleven other species occurring in Xizang and Yunnan are also provided. Chydaeus shunichii Ito, 2006 is re-described, based on specimens from Lushui County, Yunnan. Chydaeus kumei Ito, 1992 is treated as a subspecies of Chydaeus andrewesi Schauberger, 1932 [NEW STATUS]. The taxonomic status of Chydaeus guangxiensis Ito, 2006 is discussed. The following taxa are recorded from China for the first time: Chydaeus obtusicollis Schauberger, 1932 (Xizang and Yunnan), Chydaeus malaisei Kataev & Schmidt, 2006 (Yunnan), Chydaeus semenowi (Tschitschérine, 1899) (Xizang and Yunnan), Chydaeus andrewesi andrewesi Schauberger, 1932 (Xizang and Yunnan), Chydaeus andrewesi kumei Ito (Yunnan), Chydaeus bedeli interjectus Kataev & Schmidt, 2002 (Xizang), and Chydaeus bedeli vietnamensis Kataev & Schmidt, 2002 (Yunnan).

A new highly cave-adapted trechine genus and species from northern Guizhou Province, China (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae).

Project description:A remarkable aphaenopsian beetle, a sympatric species of Qianotrechus tenuicollis Uéno, 2000, was newly discovered in Cave Mahuang Dong of Shuanghe Dong cave system, the longest cave system of China in Suiyang County, northern Guizhou Province. To categorize this striking but still unknown species, a new genus and species are proposed: Shuangheaphaenops elegansgen. n., sp. n. Relationships of Shuangheaphaenops and other highly modified aphaenopsian genera from southern China Karsts are discussed.

Project description:Three new species of the ant-loving beetle tribe Batrisini, Reitter, 1882 (Pselaphinae: Batrisitae) from southeast Xizang, China are described: Arthromelodeslhunzensis sp. nov., Tribasoditesliangi sp. nov., and Tribasoditesyumaicus sp. nov. Illustrations of the habitus and diagnostic features of these species are provided to aid identification. With these additions, the number of batrisine species known from Xizang increases to 83.

Project description:The Diplocheila species recorded from Cambodia are discussed and two new species, Diplocheila walterrossii sp. nov. and D. erwini sp. nov. are described. Moreover, the holotypes of D. laevigata (Bates, 1892) and D. laevigotoides Jedlička, 1936, two often misinterpreted species from the Oriental Region, are illustrated and some aspects of their morphology are clarified. Finally, an analytical key to all species recorded from Cambodia is provided.

Two new species of the genus Anillinus Casey (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Anillini) from the southern United States.

Project description:Two new species of blind ground beetles are described from the southern United States. One species, Anillinus relictus sp. nov. (type locality: E of Oneonta, Blount County, Alabama), based on the structure of male genitalia, is similar to Texan Anillinus, in particular to the endogean A. sinuatus Jeannel. The second species, A. felicianus sp. nov. (type locality: 4 mi SW Jackson, West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana), is superficially similar to the endogean A. sinuaticollis Jeannel from Roane County, Tennessee, and represents the first record of the genus for the state of Louisiana. All species are illustrated with digital images of habitus, body parts, and male and female genitalia. Biogeographical and evolutionary implications of the new findings are discussed.

Project description:Two new genera and three new species of cave-adapted ground beetles belonging to the tribe Trechini are established and described: Wulongiusqilinger gen. nov. and sp. nov. from limestone cave Qiankou Dong (Chongqing: Wulong), Qianotrechuscongcongae sp. nov. from cave Shigao Dong (Chongqing: Nanchuan), and Qianlongiuszhoui gen. nov. and sp. nov. from cave Qianlong Dong (Guizhou: Songtao). Wulongiusqilinger sp. nov. is a small aphaenopsian beetle with a thin and elongated body, while Qianlongiuszhoui sp. nov. is a semi-aphaenopsian with a stout body. Both new genera are not closely related to any genus of Trechini occurring in the South China Karst, and so their systematic positions remain unclear.
