The spiny red gurnard, <i>Chelidonichthys spinosus</i> is a common marine economic fish species along the coast of China. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of spiny red gurnard collected from the Yangtze Estuary was determined by next-generation sequencing (NGS).
