<i>Spiroplasma</i> are vertically-transmitted endosymbionts of ticks and other arthropods. Field-collected <i>Ixodes persulcatus</i> have been reported to harbour <i>Spiroplasma</i>, but nothing is known about their persistence during laboratory colonisation of this tick species.
