<i>Corynebacterium silvaticum</i> is a newly identified animal pathogen of forest animals such as roe deer and wild boars. The species is closely related to the emerging human pathogen <i>Corynebacterium ulcerans</i> and the widely distributed animal pathogen <i>Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis</i>.
