The complete mitochondrial genome of Paraqianlabeo lineatus (Cyprinidae: Labeoninae).

ABSTRACT: Paraqianlabeo lineatus is a small-sized fish which is endemic to Guizhou province, China. The complete mitochondrial genome of P. lineatus is 16,598 bp in total length, with 37 genes, including 13 PCGs, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes (16S and 12S) and a non-coding region (D-loop). The positions and sequences of genes were consistent with congeners of Labeoninae. The nucleotide composition of the mitogenome was A (31.5%), T (26.7%), G (15.9%), C (25.8%) and was slightly A + T biased. Phylogenetic analysis conducted using Bayesian Inference method showed that P. lineatus clustered with Pseudogyrincheilus procheilus within the subfamily Labeoninae. The results may provide helpful data for further studies of the evolutionary history of Labeoninae.

Project description:Semilabeo notabilis is an Endangered cyprinid fish species in China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. notabilis was firstly determined and described. It was 16,599 bp in length and composed by 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a control region (D-loop). The overall nucleotide composition was 31.9% of A, 15.7% of G, 25.4% of T, and 27.0% of C, with a total of 57.3% A + T content. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that S. notabilis had the closest evolutionary relationship with S. obscurus. The availability of the S. notabilis mitogenome would contribute to further molecular systematics and conservation genetics studies of this species.

Complete mitochondrial genome of stripped eel catfish (Plotosus lineatus).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of stripped eel catfish, Plotosus lineatus, is sequenced in this study. The mitochondrial genome sequence is 16 480 bp in length, with the base composition of 24.7% A, 31.8% T, 27.8% G and 15.7% C. The G + C content is 43.5%. The mitochondria includes 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes and one D-loop region. Except for NAD6 gene and eight tRNA genes, all other mitochondrial genes were encoded on the heavy strand. Plotosus lineatus was confirmed to be closely related to P. japonicus (GenBank: KR270437.1), based on our phylogenetic analysis on complete mitochondrial genome sequences of 13 species. Our complete mitogenome data are going to provide the basis for taxonomic and phylogenetic research of catfishes.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Schizothorax davidi (Teleostei: Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:This study provides a mitochondrial complete genome of Schizothorax davidi. The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Poropuntius huangchuchieni (Cyprinidae).

Project description:We sequenced the mitogenome of Poropuntius huangchuchieni from Yunnan Plateau. The mitogenome was 16,554 bp in length and comprised 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, and 2 ribosomal RNAs. The base composition included 32.3% for A, 25.8% for T, 15.6% for G, and 26.3% for C, respectively. The gene order was identical to other published Cyprinidae species. The phylogenetic analysis showed that P. huangchuchieni was close to Puntius tetrazona, a Puntigrus fish in Cyprinidae family.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Ptychobarbus chungtienensis (Teleostei: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Ptychobarbus chungtienensis was first determined by using a PCR-based sequencing method. Its mitochondrial genome is 16,970bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a non-coding control region, and its gene order was consistent with other fishes. In the control region, there was a 54 bp tandem repeat array identified at 3' end. Phylogenetic analysis showed that P. chungtiensensis was clustered with other three species of Ptychobarbus.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus stracheyi (Osteichthyes:Cyprinidae).

Project description:Neolissochilus stracheyi Day 1871 is a rare specie of fish inhabit clear forest streams and rivers. In order to discuss the phylogenetic position of N. stracheyi, the mitochondrial genome was obtained by sequencing. The genome was 16,587 bp in length with an accession number OM203155. The AT contents were 56.59%. The location and composition of genes are consistent with published Cyprinids containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 main non-coding regions. Sequence analysis showed that the mitochondrial genome of N. stracheyi has high sequence homology with other cyprinid fishes. Phylogenetic tree results showed that N. stracheyi is most closely related to Neolissochilus heterostomus. The mitochondrial sequence is of great significance for fish conservation, taxonomic status and resource exploitation.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Crossocheilus siamensis has been determined by polymerase chain reaction methods for the first time. The overall base composition of C. siamensis mitogenome is 30.4% for A, 25.5% for C, 17.1% for G, and 27.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 42.6%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16,611bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for C. siamensis in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.
