ABSTRACT: Background
Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) has been shown to be a valuable option for delaying the onset of osteoarthritis in patients with hip dysplasia. Published studies at 30 years of follow-up found that postoperative anterior overcoverage and posterior undercoverage were associated with early conversion to THA. The anterior and posterior wall indices are practical tools for assessing AP coverage on standard AP radiographs of the pelvis pre-, intra-, and postoperatively. However, no study that we know of has evaluated the relationship between the postoperative anterior and posterior wall indices and survivorship free from arthroplasty.Questions/purposes
