Multiple cellular pathways have been suggested to be altered by the C9orf72 GGGGCC (G<sub>4</sub>C<sub>2</sub>) hexanucleotide repeat expansion (HRE), including aspects of RNA regulation such as nonsense-mediated decay (NMD).
