<i>Drosophila melanogaster sbr</i> (<i>small bristles</i>) is an orthologue of the <i>Nxf1</i> (<i>nuclear export factor 1</i>) genes in different <i>Opisthokonta.</i> The known function of <i>Nxf1</i> genes is the export of various mRNAs from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.
