The complete mitochondrial genome of Taxoblenus sinicus Wei & Nie, 1999 (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

ABSTRACT: The complete mitochondrial genome of Taxoblenus sinicus Wei & Nie, 1999 was described. The circular genome is 15,878 bp with an A + T content of 80.4%. It contains 37 genes, and an 859 bp control region. The trnI (+)-trnQ (-)-trnM (+) cluster rearranges to trnM (+)-trnQ (-)-CR-trnI (+). Phylogenetic analysis demonstrates that Allantinae is a sister group of Tenthredininae and T. sinicus is one of the basal lineages of Allantinae.

Project description:The mitochondrial genome of Hemathlophorus brevigenatus Wei, 2005 collected from Huanggang Mountain of China is described using the NGS approach. The length of the sequence is 15,452 bp containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and one control region. The overall A + T content is 79.5%. tRNA rearrangements occur in the MQI cluster. Phylogenetic analysis of H. brevigenatus resolved it in a clade with Allantus togatus in Allantinae which provides new evidence for the phylogeny of Tenthredinidae.

Project description:We assembled the near-complete mitochondrial genome of Colochela zhongi Wei, 2016 with next-generation sequencing (NGS). The total genome size of C. zhongi was 15,095 bp with 80.6% A + T content, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, and two rRNA genes. Three tRNA genes rearrangements were found compared to the ancestral organization. Phylogenetic analysis results based on heterogeneity models of 46 Symphytan and two Apocritan strongly supported that C. zhongi was closely related to Siobla xizangensis.

Compared to ancestral organization, seven tRNA genes were rearranged. Bayesian and maximum-likelihood trees recovered the monophyly of Tenthredinidae and A. proxima was the basal lineage. The mitogenome sequence provided fundamental data for resolving phylogenetic and genetic problems of Tenthredinidae.

Project description:The nearly complete mitochondrial genome of Birmella discoidalisa Wei, 1994 has been sequenced and the genome was revised with more comprehensively sequenced to near completion. The new mitogenome sequences were constructed using two separate assembly approaches, both yielding consistent results. Compared with the sequence previously reported (MF197548.1), the trnI (+) and trnQ (-) genes were assembled, and the trnI (+)-trnQ (-) genes were rearranged compared with the ancestral type. The systematic classification of B. discoidalisa was examined to provide a basis for allocation into Tenthredinidae phylogeny.

Nearly complete mitochondrial genome of Siobla xizangensis Xiao, Huang & Zhou, 1988 (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:In this study we review the phylogenetic grouping of the sawfly genus Siobla within the superfamily Tenthredinoidea. Using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), we describe the complete mitochondrial genome of Siobla xizangensis Xiao, Huang & Zhou, 1988. The assembled mitochondrial genome of S. xizangensis was found to be 15015 bp, with three tRNA genes rearranged compared to the ancestral organization. The overall nucleotide composition was 42.6% for A, 11.4% for C, 7.7% for G and 38.3% for T. The phylogenetic tree based on heterogeneity models of 36 Symphytan and two Apocritan recovered the monophyly of Tenthredinidae, and S. xizangensis was identified as the sister group of Tenthredo.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of the sawfly, Analcellicampa danfengensis, was sequenced and analyzed. This double strand, circular molecule is 15,968 bp in length with an A + T content of 80.9% and contains 13 PCGs, 22 tRNA genes, and two rRNA genes. Gene rearrangement occurs in the mitogenome of A. danfengensis. Two putative control regions are found, respectively with a length of 495 bp and 359 bp. All PCGs use standard ATN as start codons and most PCGs has complete TAN as stop codons. The phylogenetic analysis suggests that A. danfengensis is closely related to Monocellicampa pruni, another species of Tenthredinidae.

Several gene rearrangement events were observed in IQM gene cluster by comparing with the inferred insect ancestral mitochondrial genome. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated the position of Eutomostethus vegetus in the Tenthredinidae and showed that Blennocampinae is a sister group to Fenusinae.

Characterization of the Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Harpalus sinicus and Its Implications for Phylogenetic Analyses.

Project description:In this study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of Harpalus sinicus (occasionally named as the Chinese ground beetle) which is the first mitochondrial genome for Harpalus. The mitogenome is 16,521 bp in length, comprising 37 genes, and a control region. The A + T content of the mitogenome is as high as 80.6%. A mitochondrial origins of light-strand replication (OL)-like region is found firstly in the insect mitogenome, which can form a stem-loop hairpin structure. Thirteen protein-coding genes (PCGs) share high homology, and all of them are under purifying selection. All tRNA genes (tRNAs) can be folded into the classic cloverleaf secondary structures except tRNA-Ser (GCU), which lacks a dihydrouridine (DHU) stem. The secondary structure of two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs) is predicted based on previous insect models. Twelve types of tandem repeats and two stem-loop structures are detected in the control region, and two stem-loop structures may be involved in the initiation of replication and transcription. Additionally, phylogenetic analyses based on mitogenomes suggest that Harpalus is an independent lineage in Carabidae, and is closely related to four genera (Abax, Amara, Stomis, and Pterostichus). In general, this study provides meaningful genetic information for Harpalus sinicus and new insights into the phylogenetic relationships within the Carabidae.

Project description:Anhoplocampa is redescribed based on new material. Anhoplocampa bicoloricornissp. n. from China is described. Anhoplocampa yunanensis (Haris & Roller, 1999), comb. n. is transferred from Trichiocampus. A key to species of Anhoplocampa is provided. The differences between Anhoplocampa and Trichiocampus Hartig, 1837, Priophorus Dahlbom, 1835, Hoplocampa Hartig, 1837 and Renonerva Wei & Nie, 1998 are briefly discussed.
