Insects of the genus <i>Lipoptena</i> are parasitic arthropods with a broad host range. Due to the type of parasitism (hematophagy), their potential role as vectors of pathogens, i.e., <i>Bartonella</i> sp., <i>Anaplasma phagocytophilum</i>, <i>Rickettsia</i> spp., and <i>Borrelia burgdorferi</i> is considered.
