The serotonin transporter (SERT) is the primary target for the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). However, the structural basis for the extraordinarily high binding affinity of the widely prescribed SSRI, paroxetine, to human SERT (hSERT) has not yet been fully elucidated.
