Several Lactobacillus ssp. are recognized as potential conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) producers. We have previously reported the ability of a range of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus strains to produce CLA in fermented milk, being a potential candidate for the fermented dairy food chain.
