The complete chloroplast genome of Salix cupularis Rehder, a sand binder in alpine hillslope, China.

ABSTRACT: The complete chloroplast genome of Salix cupularis Rehder was assembled and subjected to phylogenetic analysis. The chloroplast genome of S. cupularis was 155,518 bp in length, containing a large single-copy region (84,373 bp), a small single-copy region (16,226 bp), and two inverted repeat regions (27,458 bp). The overall GC content of S. cupularis chloroplast genome was 36.70%. The chloroplast genome of S. cupularis contained 127 unique genes, including 82 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. cupularis was most related to Salix magnifica.

Project description:Hydrangea strigosa Rehder is a wild flowering shrub with high ornamental value. The complete chloroplast genome sequence of H. strigosa was characterized from Hiseq (Illumina Co., San Diego, CA) sequencing data. The chloroplast genome of H. strigosa is 157,905 bp in length with a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) (26,127 bp) which are separated by a large single-copy (LSC) (86,897 bp) and a small single-copy regions (SSC) (18,754 bp). It contains 131 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNAs genes, and 8 rRNAs genes. The overall GC content of the whole genome is 37.80%. The maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis with the complete chloroplast genomes sequence of 22 species of Hydrangeaceae showed that H. strigosa is closely related to H. davidii.

The complete chloroplast genome and phylogenetic analysis of Salix triandra from China.

Project description:Salix triandra is a great willow for bees and an excellent choice for living willow structures. In this study, we assembled and annotated the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of S. triandra. The whole cp genome is 155,821 base-pairs (bp) in size, which comprises one small single copy (SSC) region of 16,223 bp and one large single copy (LSC) region of 84,532 bp separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 27,533 bp. There are 131 genes, including 86 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis with the Neighbour-joining method indicates that S. triandra is closely related to S. tetrasperma. The complete cp genome will facilitate the biological studies in the order Malpighiales in future.

About 104 unique genes were annotated, including 76 protein coding genes, 24 tRNA genes and 4 rRNA genes.

Here, we report the complete choroplast genome sequences in order to enrich its genetic resource. The total genome is 155,278 bp in length and contains a typical quadripartite structure, including a large single copy (LSC) region of 84,457 bp, a small single copy (SSC) region of 15,891 bp, and a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 27,465 bp. There were 130 genes in the genome, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes and eight rRNA genes. The overall CG content in the plastome of S. psammophila is 36.72%. The phylogenetic tree based on 18 complete plastomes of Salicaceae support close relationships among S. psammophila, Salix taoensis, and Salix rehderiana.

Characterization of the complete chloroplast genome of Salix chienii W.C. Cheng (Salicaceae) from Southern China.

Project description:Salix chienii W.C. Cheng (Salicaceae) is a dioecious small tree with high economic and medicinal value. In this study, we reported the complete chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) of S. chienii by employing HiSeq sequencing and de novo assembly. The chloroplast genome of S. chienii is 155,672 bp in length, with a 36.60% GC content; it contains one large single copy (LSC), one small single copy (SSC) and two inverted repeat (IR) regions with lengths of 84,494, 16,330, and 27,424 bp, respectively. A total of 132 genes were predicted, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes and 2 pseudogenes. A maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree showed that S. chienii is closely related to S. wilsonii and S. triandra.

Characterization of the complete chloroplast genome of Salix magnifica, a vulnerable species endemic to China.

Project description:Salix magnifica is only sporadically distributed in the western part of Sichuan, the area of the willows is narrow. There are not many plants, and they easily fall into the endangered state. It is currently on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list of threatened species. In this study, we first assembled the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of Salix magnifica by Illumina paired-end reads data. The whole genome was 154,977 bp, consisting of a pair of inverted repeats of 27,457 bp, large single-copy region, and a small single-copy region (71,119 and 16,205 bp in length, respectively). The cp genome contained 116 genes, including 80 protein-coding genes and 36 tRNA genes. The overall GC content of the whole genome was 36.7%. A neighbour-joining phylogenetic analysis demonstrated a close relationship between Salix magnifica and Salix oreinoma.

The genome is 155,531 bp long, with a GC content of 36.71%, and contains four sub-regions: 84,395 bp of large single copy (LSC) and 16,218 bp of small single copy (SSC) regions, separated by 27,459 bp of inverted repeat (IR) regions. A total of 129 genes were annotated, including 83 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The Phylogenetic analyses based on the whole cp genome sequence placed S. viminalis into a clade containing Salix rehderiana, Salix taoensis, Salix koriyanagi, and Salix suchowensis. This is the first complete cp genome for S. viminalis that would be useful for phylogenetic and population genetic studies of this species.
