ParABS partition systems, comprising the centromere-like DNA sequence <i>parS</i>, the <i>parS</i>-binding ParB-CTPase, and the nucleoid-binding ParA-ATPase, ensure faithful segregation of bacterial chromosomes and low-copy-number plasmids.
