The dance fly <i>Calohilara tibetensis</i> Ding, He, Lin and Yang, 2020 belongs to the subfamily Empidinae of Empididae. The mitochondrial genome of <i>C. tibetensis</i> was sequenced as the new representative of the subfamily Empidinae. The nearly complete mitogenome was 15,354 bp, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, two <i>rRNA</i>s, and 22 <i>tRNAs</i>.
