Prognostic Significance of Microvascular Invasion in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND The incidence, pathogenesis, and prognostic effect of microvascular invasion on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remain controversial. This study aimed to summarize the incidence, pathogenesis, role in clinical management, recurrence, and prognostic significance of microvascular invasion in PDAC. MATERIAL AND METHODS A literature review and meta-analysis were performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. Systematic literature searches were conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar up to February 2021. RESULTS Seventeen studies were included in the meta-analysis.
