Angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) is the cell-surface receptor enabling cellular entry of SARS-CoV-2. ACE2 is highly expressed in adipose tissue (AT), rendering AT a potential SARS-CoV-2 reservoir contributing to massive viral spread in COVID-19 patients with obesity.
