Pregnane X Receptor (PXR) belongs to the nuclear receptors' superfamily and mainly functions as a xenobiotic sensor activated by a variety of ligands. PXR is widely expressed in normal and malignant tissues. Drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters are also under PXR's regulation.
