Complete Annotated Genome Sequence of Limosilactobacillus fermentum AGR1487.

ABSTRACT: Limosilactobacillus fermentum is a probiotic species; however, L. fermentum AGR1487 increases colon inflammation in germfree mice and decreases barrier integrity in Caco-2 cells. The AGR1487 genome was sequenced to explore these phenotypes. The genome is a single, circular, 1,939,032-bp chromosome with a G+C content of 52.17% and no plasmids.

Complete genome sequence of Limosilactobacillus fermentum JNU532 as a probiotic candidate for the functional food and feed supplements.

Project description:Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have been reported to possess various beneficial properties and are commonly used as probiotics. LAB play a crucial role in milk fermentation, industrial lactic acid fermentation, and health and medicine. Limosilactobacillus fermentum isolated from fermented dairy and food products is considered as 'Generally Recognized as Safe' by FDA. Limosilactobacillus fermentum plays an important role in modulation of the intestinal microbiota, enhancing the host immune system and improving feed digestibility. We isolated a probiotic candidate that was identified and named Limosilactobacillus fermentum JNU532. In a previous report, cell-free culture of L. fermentum JNU532 exhibited anti-melanogenic and antioxidant activities. In this study, we present the complete genome assembly of the bacterial strain JNU532. The final genome consists of one circular chromosome (2,077,416 base pairs) with a guanine + cytosine (GC) ratio of 51.5%.

Complete, annotated sequence of the pseudorabies virus genome.

Project description:We have obtained the complete DNA sequence of pseudorabies virus (PRV), an alphaherpesvirus also known as Aujeszky's disease virus or suid herpesvirus 1, using sequence fragments derived from six different strains (Kaplan, Becker, Rice, Indiana-Funkhauser, NIA-3, and TNL). The assembled PRV genome sequence comprises 143,461 nucleotides. As expected, it matches the predicted gene arrangement, genome size, and restriction enzyme digest patterns. More than 70 open reading frames were identified with homologs in related alphaherpesviruses; none were unique to PRV. RNA polymerase II transcriptional control elements in the PRV genome, including core promoters, splice sites, and polyadenylation sites, were identified with computer prediction programs. The correlation between predicted and experimentally determined transcription start and stop sites was excellent. The transcriptional control architecture is characterized by three key features: core transcription elements shared between genes, yielding divergent transcripts and a large number of coterminal transcripts; bifunctional transcriptional elements, yielding head-to-tail transcripts; and short repetitive sequences that could function as insulators against improperly terminated transcripts. Many of these features are conserved in the alphaherpesvirus subfamily and have important implications for gene array analyses.

Project description:Lactobacillus fermentum is found in food products and is generally considered safe. L. fermentum AGR1485 promotes barrier integrity in Caco-2 cells and has genetic similarities to other known probiotic L. fermentum strains. L. fermentum AGR1485 has potential as a probiotic and was sequenced to explore these probiotic properties. The genome is a 2.2-Mbp circular chromosome with no plasmids and a GC content of 51.15%.
