Genes in the epoxygenase pathway of arachidonic acid metabolism leading to vasoactive eicosanoids, mainly 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic (20-HETE) and epoxyeicosatrienoic (EETs) acids, have been related to glucose-induced renal damage in preclinical reports.
