Systemic sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, is a rare multisystem autoimmune disease characterized by vascular lesions caused by collagen deposition in the skin and viscera and damage to the endothelium. Endothelial injury and microvascular occlusion result in Raynaud's phenomenon, finger ischemia, pulmonary hypertension, and scleroderma renal crisis.
