State Evaluation Method of Robot Lubricating Oil Based on Support Vector Regression.

ABSTRACT: Recently, the development of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has led enterprises to re-examine the research of the equipment-state-prediction models and intelligent manufacturing applications. Take industrial robots as typical example. Under the effect of scale, robot maintenance decision seriously affects the cost of spare parts and labor deployment. In this paper, an evaluation method is proposed to predict the state of robot lubricating oil based on support vector regression (SVR). It would be the proper model to avoid the structural risks and minimize the effect of small sample volume. IIoT technology is used to collect and store the valuable robot running data. The key features of the running state of the robot are extracted, and the machine learning model is applied according to the measured element contents of the lubricating oil. As a result, the cost of spare parts consumption can be saved for more than two million CNY per year.

Visual Analysis of Odor Interaction Based on Support Vector Regression Method.

Project description:The complex odor interaction between odorants makes it difficult to predict the odor intensity of their mixtures. The analysis method is currently one of the factors limiting our understanding of the odor interaction laws. We used a support vector regression algorithm to establish odor intensity prediction models for binary esters, aldehydes, and aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures, respectively. The prediction accuracy to both training samples and test samples demonstrated the high prediction capacity of the support vector regression model. Then the optimized model was used to generate extra odor data by predicting the odor intensity of more simulated samples with various mixing ratios and concentration levels. Based on these olfactory measured and model predicted data, the odor interaction was analyzed in the form of contour maps. This intuitive method showed more details about the odor interaction pattern in the binary mixture. We found that that the antagonism effect was commonly observed in these binary mixtures and the interaction degree was more intense when the components' mixing ratio was close. Meanwhile, the odor intensity level of the odor mixture barely influenced the interaction degree. The machine learning algorithms were considered promising tools in odor researches.

Compressor performance modelling method based on support vector machine nonlinear regression algorithm.

Project description:To overcome the difficulty of having only part of compressor characteristic maps including on-design operating point, and accurately calculate compressor thermodynamic performance under variable working conditions, this paper proposes a novel compressor performance modelling method based on support vector machine nonlinear regression algorithm. It is compared with the other three neural network algorithms (i.e. back propagation (BP), radial basis function (RBF) and Elman neural networks) from the perspective of interpolation and extrapolation accuracy as well as calculation time, to prove the validity of the proposed method. Application analyses indicate that the proposed method has better interpolation and extrapolation performance than the other three neural networks. In terms of flow characteristic map representation, the root mean square error (RMSE) of the extrapolation performance at higher and lower speed operating area by the proposed method is 0.89% and 2.57%, respectively. And the total RMSE by the proposed method is 2.72%, which is more accurate by 47% than the Elman algorithm. For efficiency characteristic map representation, the RMSE of the extrapolation performance at higher and lower speed operating area by the proposed method is 2.85% and 1.22%, respectively. And the total RMSE by the proposed method is 1.81%, which is more accurate by 35% than the BP algorithm. Moreover, the proposed method has better real-time performance compared with the other three neural network algorithms.

An empirical evaluation of multivariate lesion behaviour mapping using support vector regression.

Project description:Multivariate lesion behaviour mapping based on machine learning algorithms has recently been suggested to complement the methods of anatomo-behavioural approaches in cognitive neuroscience. Several studies applied and validated support vector regression-based lesion symptom mapping (SVR-LSM) to map anatomo-behavioural relations. However, this promising method, as well as the multivariate approach per se, still bears many open questions. By using large lesion samples in three simulation experiments, the present study empirically tested the validity of several methodological aspects. We found that (i) correction for multiple comparisons is required in the current implementation of SVR-LSM, (ii) that sample sizes of at least 100-120 subjects are required to optimally model voxel-wise lesion location in SVR-LSM, and (iii) that SVR-LSM is susceptible to misplacement of statistical topographies along the brain's vasculature to a similar extent as mass-univariate analyses.

A consumer emotion analysis system based on support vector regression model

Project description:The effective means to stimulate economic growth is to enhance consumers’ consumption capacity. Because many consumers have different consumption habits, they will pay different attention to products. Even the same consumer will have different shopping experiences when buying the same product at different times. By mining the online comments of consumers on the online fitness platform, we can find the characteristics of fitness projects that consumers care about. Analyzing consumers’ emotional tendencies towards the characteristics of fitness programs will help online fitness platforms adjust the quality and service direction of fitness programs in a timely manner. At the same time, it can also provide purchase advice and suggestions for other consumers. Based on this goal, this study uses an optimized support vector regression (SVR) model to build a consumer sentiment analysis system, so as to predict the consumer’s willingness to pay. The optimized SVR model uses the region convolution neural network (RCNN) to extract features from the dataset, and uses feature data to train the SVR model. The experimental results show that the SVR model optimized by RCNN is more accurate. The improvement of the accuracy of consumer sentiment analysis can accurately help businesses promote and publicize, and increase sales. On the other hand, the increase in the accuracy of emotion analysis can also help users quickly locate their favorite fitness projects, saving browsing time. To sum up, the emotional analysis system for consumers in this paper has good practical value.

Support Vector Regression-Based Monte Carlo Simulation of Flexible Water Clusters.

Project description:Molecular simulations based on classical force fields are computationally efficient but lack accuracy due to the empirical formulation of non-bonded interactions. Quantum mechanical (QM) methods, albeit accurate, have inhibitory computational costs for large molecules and clusters. Hence, to overcome the bottleneck, machine learning (ML)-based methods have been employed in the recent years. We had earlier reported a combined scheme of many-body expansion (MBE) and ML to predict the interaction energies of rigid water clusters. In this work, we proceed toward building a flexible water model using the ML-MBE scheme. This ML-MBE scheme has an error of <1% for interaction energy prediction in comparison to the parent QM method for flexible water decamers. Machine learning-based Monte Carlo simulations (MLMC) are performed with this water model, and the structural properties of these configurations are compared with those obtained from ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) and the TIP3P classical force field. The radial distribution functions, tetrahedral order parameters, and number of hydrogen bonds in AIMD and MLMC have a similar qualitative and quantitative trend, whereas the classical force fields show a significant deviation.

Molecular design of antioxidant lubricating oil additives via QSPR and analysis dynamic simulation method.

Project description:Alternatives antioxidant lubricant additives have been proposed by many researchers to replace long-time use of multifunctional lubricant additive, Zinc-dialkyl-dithiophosphate (ZDDP). Computational methods (QSPR and MD) were successfully used to design five novel anti-oxidant lubricating oil additives with improved properties and dynamic binding energies. The five novel antioxidant lubricant additives with improved properties and without sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur (SAPS) were successfully designed. These group of newly designed additives were better than other similar research from the literature and could stop or terminate complete oxidation of the lubricant. Moreover, the result of molecular dynamics simulations (MD) in which 3-(2-(3-amino-4,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-chloro-4-oxoazetidin-1-yl)-2-argioquinazolin-4(3H)-one with the most promised dynamic binding energy of -1487.68 kcal/mol was found to be dynamically bound better on the simulated steel coated surface than the DLC coated surface and was also revealed to be excellently good when compared with commercially sold multifunctional additives, ZDDP (197.143 kcal/mol). These groups of five newly designed additives could be easily synthesized in the wet laboratory by adding -OH and or NH2 around the ortho, meta and para position of the phenyl group of the structure template. This research will help designing new oxidation resistance lubricating oil additives with improved properties that will reduce the capacity of base oil to oxidize and form sludge during the autoxidation process of the lubricating oil.

Safety evaluation of visual load at entrance and exit of extra-long expressway tunnel based on optimized support vector regression.

Project description:The traffic environment of an extra-long expressway tunnel is more complex than that of a long tunnel, which increases the driving risk. The visual load of drivers can be used to evaluate driving safety and comfort. To reveal drivers' visual load characteristics at the entrance and exit of extra-long tunnels on mountainous expressways, this study conducted vehicle tests with 12 drivers at Gonghe extra-long tunnel on the Yu-Xiang expressway in the Wulong District. An eye tracker, non-contact multifunctional velocimetry, illuminometer, and other test equipment were used to record drivers' pupil areas, velocity, and illuminance when entering and leaving the tunnel. The change characteristics of drivers' pupil areas were studied. The maximum transient velocity value (MTPA) of the pupil area was selected as an index to evaluate the visual load degree. Based on velocity and illuminance coupling, a visual load model was constructed using the optimized support vector machine (GA-SVM). The influence of velocity and illuminance on the MTPA in the tunnel's approach, entrance, exit, and departure section was analyzed. The results show that drivers' psychological tension order at the entrance and exit is entrance section ≈ exit section > departure section > approach section. In the approach section, the visual load is mainly affected by environmental illumination. In the entrance and exit sections, the visual load is positively correlated with velocity and negatively correlated with illuminance, and velocity has a greater impact on visual load. In the tunnel departure section, the two variables synergistically influence the driving visual load. The research results provide theoretical support for the safety design and management of extra-long tunnel entrances and exits.

Magnetocaloric effect modeling of dysprosium-transition metal based intermetallic alloys for magnetic refrigeration application using hybrid genetic algorithm based support vector regression intelligent method.

Project description:Intermetallic alloy containing rare earth dysprosium ions with the associated unfilled 4f shell electrons and sub-lattice of 3d-transition metal, results into fascinating magnetic properties which are useful for green refrigeration technological application. Magnetocaloric effect remains the fundamental principle upon which magnetic refrigeration technology is based while this cooling technology has advantages of cost effectiveness, high efficiency and environmental friendliness as compared with the existing conventional gas compression systems. Maximum magnetic entropy change (which controls the hugeness of magnetocaloric effect) of intermetallic alloy Dy-T-X (where T = transition metal and X = any other metal or nonmetal) is modeled in this work using hybrid genetic algorithm based support vector regression (GSVR) computational intelligent method with applied magnetic field, ionic concentration and ionic radii descriptors. The developed GSVR-G model with kernel Gaussian function outperforms GSVR-P model with polynomial function with improvement of 85.23%, 78.82% and 78.67% on the basis of the computed correlation coefficient (CC), mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) on testing sample, respectively. The developed model further investigates the influence of applied external magnetic field on magnetocaloric effect of DyCuAl intermetallic alloy. The developed models in this work circumvent experimental challenges of magnetocaloric effect determination while the recorded precision of the developed model further opens doors for possible exploration of these intermetallic compounds for addressing environmental challenges associated with the present system of cooling.

Glaucoma Detection Using Support Vector Machine Method Based on Spectralis OCT.

Project description:Spectralis optical coherence tomography (OCT) provided more detailed parameters in the peripapillary and macular areas among the OCT machines, but it is not easy to understand the enormous information (114 features) generated from Spectralis OCT in glaucoma assessment. Machine learning methodology has been well-applied in glaucoma detection in recent years and has the ability to process a large amount of information at once. Here we aimed to analyze the diagnostic capability of Spectralis OCT parameters on glaucoma detection using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification method in our population. Our results showed that applying all OCT features with the SVM method had good capability in the detection of glaucomatous eyes (area under curve (AUC) = 0.82), as well as discriminating normal eyes from early, moderate, or severe glaucomatous eyes (AUC = 0.78, 0.89, and 0.93, respectively). Apart from using all OCT features, the minimum rim width (MRW) may be good feature groups to discriminate early glaucomatous from normal eyes (AUC = 0.78). The combination of peripapillary and macular parameters, including MRW_temporal inferior (TI), MRW_global (G), ganglion cell layer (GCL)_outer temporal (T2), GCL_inner inferior (I1), peripapillary nerve fiber layer thickness (ppNFLT)_temporal superior (TS), and GCL_inner temporal (T1), provided better results (AUC = 0.84). This study showed promise in glaucoma management in the Taiwanese population. However, further validation study is needed to test the performance of our proposed model in the real world.

Support vector regression-based QSAR models for prediction of antioxidant activity of phenolic compounds.

Project description:The Support vector regression (SVR) was used to investigate quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) of 75 phenolic compounds with Trolox-equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC). Geometric structures were optimized at the EF level of the MOPAC software program. Using Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, four molecular descriptors [n(OH), Cosmo Area (CA), Core-Core Repulsion (CCR) and Final Heat of Formation (FHF)] were selected as independent variables. The QSAR model was developed from the training set consisting of 57 compounds and then used the leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV) correlation coefficient to evaluate the prediction ability of the QSAR model. Used Artificial neural network (ANN) and multiple linear regression (MLR) for comparing. The RMSE (root mean square error) values of LOOCV in SVR, ANN and MLR models were 0.44, 0.46 and 0.54. The RMSE values of prediction of external 18 compounds were 0.41, 0.39 and 0.54 for SVR, ANN and MLR models, respectively. The obtained result indicated that the SVR models exhibited excellent predicting performance and competent for predicting the TEAC of phenolic compounds.
