In rodents, obesity and aging impair nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD<sup>+</sup>) biosynthesis, which contributes to metabolic dysfunction. Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) availability is a rate-limiting factor in mammalian NAD<sup>+</sup> biosynthesis.
