Dirofilariasis is a rare zoonotic disease which is commonly caused by two <i>Dirofilaria</i> species; <i>Dirofilaria immitis</i> and <i>Dirofilaria repens</i>. Humans are accidental dead-end hosts of the parasites, and the infection is mainly asymptomatic.
