Johne's disease (JD) is a chronic granulomatous enteritis caused by <i>Mycobacterium avium</i> subsp. <i>paratuberculosis</i> (MAP). While it is generally accepted that MAP employs immune subversion mechanisms, aspects of the host-pathogen relationship are not fully understood.
