We sought to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the aerobic dechlorination of the persistent organic pollutants hexachlorobenzene (HCB) and pentachlorophenol (PCP). We performed genomic and heterologous expression analyses of dehalogenase genes in <i>Nocardioides</i> sp.
