Taxonomical study on the newly-recorded genus Falsonnannocerus Pic from China (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae, Stenochiinae).

ABSTRACT:

Background

The genus Falsonannocerus Pic, 1947 (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae, Stenochiinae, Cnodalonini) includes 13 known species occurring in West Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The bionomics of species in this genus are unknown.

New information

The genus Falsonnannocerus Pic, 1947 is recorded for the first time from China, including two species: F.thailandicus Masumoto, 1986 from Yunnan and F.haizhuensis sp. n. from Guangdong. Morphological characters of the two species are illustrated and compared. The photographs of female reproductive system, which were never shown for this genus before, are also presented.

Project description:Three species of the genus Xenocerogria Merkl, 2007 have been recorded in China, Xenocerogriafeai (Borchmann, 1911), Xenocerogriaignota (Borchmann, 1941) and Xenocerogriaruficollis (Borchmann, 1912). Xenoceraxanthisma Chen, 2002 is proposed as a junior synonym of Xenocerogriaruficollis. Lectotype of Xenocerogriaignota is designated, and the species is transferred to the genus Lagria Fabricius, 1775. New Chinese province records of Xenocerogriaruficollis are provided.

Project description:BackgroundThe genus Rhodotritoma Arrow, 1925 (Coleoptera, Erotylidae, Erotylinae, Tritomini) includes 12 known species worldwide, including three species distributed in China. In the last four decades, no work was conducted on Rhodotritoma in China. In this paper, we review the taxonomy of this genus for Chinese fauna and redescribe a newly-recorded species in China.New informationRhodotritomamanipurica Arrow, 1925 is recorded from China for the first time. The morphological characters of the adult are redescribed in detail and illustrated. A key to species of the genus Rhodotritoma Arrow, 1925 in China is provided. Chinese specimens were collected from Tibet Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province, which were then deposited in the Museum of Hebei University. The holotype examined is kept in the Natural History Museum.

It is widespread in the Palearctic Region of Eurasia, but has never been reported from China until now.New informationThe genus Dolichosoma Stephens, 1830 is reported from China for the first time, with discoveries of two newly-recorded species, including D. (Dolichomorphus) femorale Morawitz, 1861 and D. (Dolichosoma) lineare (Rossi, 1794) from Xinjiang Autonomous Region. They are re-described in detail and illustrated with habitus, ultimate abdominal tergites and sternites and genitalia of both sexes, as well as tarsal claws of male. In addition, a macrohabitat photograph and a distribution map of the two species occurring in China are provided.
