Azanone (HNO) is an elusive electrophilic reactive nitrogen species of growing pharmacological and biological significance. Here, we present a comparative kinetic study of HNO reactivity toward selected cyclic <i>C</i>-nucleophiles under aqueous conditions at pH 7.4.
