Dnmt2, a member of the DNA methyltransferase superfamily, catalyzes the formation of 5-methylcytosine at position 38 in the anticodon loop of tRNAs. Dnmt2 regulates many cellular biological processes, especially the production of tRNA-derived fragments and intergenerational transmission of paternal metabolic disorders to offspring.
