Dataset of Stagnant Water and Wet Surface Label Images for Detection.

ABSTRACT: Clean water is one of the essential things in life. The running water in natural forms is considered as clean water. To avoid exposure to countless diseases, it is imperative to separate stagnant water from clean water. Thus the main objective of the proposed paper is to create an image dataset of stagnant water and wet surface to detect stagnant water. Accordingly, we considered stagnant water images in different forms and sizes to construct the dataset. In addition to that, brown and black earth surface is considered for the wet surface detection. The dataset consists of 1976 labeled images captured from various angles with annotated files. The dataset images are labelled for two classes, namely water and wet surface. This dataset is highly useful for deep learning experts working in the field of disease control management and post-rainfall earth surface monitoring.

Project description:BackgroundMore and more herbaria are digitising their collections. Images of specimens are made available online to facilitate access to them and allow extraction of information from them. Transcription of the data written on specimens is critical for general discoverability and enables incorporation into large aggregated research datasets. Different methods, such as crowdsourcing and artificial intelligence, are being developed to optimise transcription, but herbarium specimens pose difficulties in data extraction for many reasons.New informationTo provide developers of transcription methods with a means of optimisation, we have compiled a benchmark dataset of 1,800 herbarium specimen images with corresponding transcribed data. These images originate from nine different collections and include specimens that reflect the multiple potential obstacles that transcription methods may encounter, such as differences in language, text format (printed or handwritten), specimen age and nomenclatural type status. We are making these specimens available with a Creative Commons Zero licence waiver and with permanent online storage of the data. By doing this, we are minimising the obstacles to the use of these images for transcription training. This benchmark dataset of images may also be used where a defined and documented set of herbarium specimens is needed, such as for the extraction of morphological traits, handwriting recognition and colour analysis of specimens.

Historical-crack18-19: A dataset of annotated images for non-invasive surface crack detection in historical buildings.

Project description:This article presents the details of Historical-crack18-19 dataset containing around 3886 annotated concrete surface images from historical buildings. The dataset comprises about 40 raw images collected from an ancient mosque (Masjid) in Historic Cairo, Egypt, with about 757 cracked and 3139 non-cracked surface instances. The images of Historical-crack18-19 dataset were captured using Canon EOS REBEL T3i digital camera with 5184 × 3456 resolution over two years (2018 and 2019). The images of Historical-crack18-19 dataset are annotated with the help of an expert and are intended for training and validation of automated non-invasive crack detection and crack severity recognition as well as crack segmentation approaches based on Machine learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models. According to the environmental circumstances, where the dataset was collected, several challenges are encountered by crack detection/segmentation systems in surface images of historical buildings (illumination, crack-like patterns, separators, dust, blurring, deep texture, etc.). Further, researchers can use the dataset for benchmarking the performance of state-of-the-art methods designed for solving related (image classification and object detection problems. Aerial images and water quality dataset for fishpond's condition monitoring.

Project description:This dataset is part of fundamental research to produce IoT monitoring in fishponds. The data consists of the results of measurements of pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), and water temperature obtained through manual sensor devices in several locations at different times. Additionally, this data also includes images taken by drones at consistent heights. These images are linked to the sensor data that has been collected. In this research, data will be used to monitor the health of fishponds through visual data. This data can be used for correlation analysis between visual data and sensor data. The hypothesis is the visual appearance of the pond (the colour) is affected by the number of mixed solid (mud and other organic material) in the water, which reflected in the TDS level of the water. In addition, the data can also be used for initial investigations into the development of machine learning models for pool condition recognition through image analysis.

Dataset of road surface images with seasons for machine learning applications.

Project description:Road surface monitoring plays a vital role in ensuring safety and comfort for the various road users, from pedestrians to drivers. Furthermore, this information is useful for the maintenance of the roads. The road condition deteriorates due to volatile weather. Thus the main objective of the proposed paper is to create an image dataset of the road surface for two seasons, i.e. summer and rainy. Accordingly, we created road surface images for different roads such as paved and unpaved roads. These folders consist of two subfolders for Rainy and Summer potholes. The dataset consists of 8484 images and 10 videos. This dataset is highly useful for machine learning experts working in the field of automatic vehicle controlling and road surface monitoring.

Dataset of groundnut plant leaf images for classification and detection.

Project description:The use of machine learning is rapidly expanding across many industries, including agriculture and the IT sector. However, data is essential for machine learning models, and a substantial amount of data is required prior to training a model. We have collected data of groundnut plant leaves in the form of digital photographs taken in the Koppal (Karnataka, India) area with the assistance of a pathologist in natural settings. Images of leaves are categorized into six distinct groups according to their condition. Collected images are pre-processed and the processed images of groundnut leaves are kept in 6 folders as: the "healthy leaves" folder with 1871 images, the "early leaf spot" folder with 1731 images, the "late leaf spot" folder with 1896 images, the "Nutrition deficiency" folder with 1665 images, the "rust" folder with 1724 images, and the "early rust" folder with 1474 images. The total number of images in the dataset is 10361. This dataset will be useful to train and validate deep learning and machine learning algorithms for groundnut leaf disease classification and recognition. Disease detection in plants is crucial for limiting crop losses and our dataset will help disease detection in groundnut plants. Dataset of surface water vapour density in southeast, Nigeria.

Project description:In this data article, analysis of surface water vapour density in Southeast, Nigeria were reported. The meteorological data were obtained for the period of 39 years between 1973 and 2012 from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climatology Centre. Five stations considered in the research area includes: Enugu, Onitsha, Abakaliki, Aba and Ihiala. Descriptive statistics were used to show an increase in monthly variation of surface water vapour density (SWVD) minimum value of about 7.15 g/m3 at Enugu in January to maximum value of about 21.96 g/m3 at Onitsha in April. Hence, the seasonal variation for South East indicate peak value within the months of March to May in the rainy season and a lower value around December to February which is the dry season. The results from this data will help engineers in proper design and planning of radiowave propagation and satellite communication systems in southeastern, Nigeria.

Arabica coffee leaf images dataset for coffee leaf disease detection and classification.

Project description:This article introduces Arabica coffee leaf datasets known as JMuBEN and JMuBEN2. Image acquisition was done in Mutira coffee plantation in Kirinyaga county-Kenya under real-world conditions using a digital camera and with the help of a pathologist. JMuBEN dataset contains three compressed folders with images inside. The first file contains 7682 images of Cerscospora, the second contains 8337 images of rust and the last one contains 6572 images of Phoma. JMuBEN2 contains two compressed files where the first file contains 16,979 images of Miner while the other contains 18,985 images of healthy leaves. In total, the dataset contains 58,555 leaf images spread across five classes (Phoma, Cescospora, Rust, Healthy, Miner,) with annotations regarding the state of the leaves and the disease names. The Arabica datasets contain images that facilitates training and validation during the utilization of deep learning algorithms for coffee plant leaf disease recognition and classification. ICESat-2 river surface slope (IRIS): A global reach-scale water surface slope dataset.

Project description:The global reach-scale "ICESat-2 River Surface Slope" (IRIS) dataset comprises average and extreme water surface slopes (WSS) derived from ICESat-2 observations between October 2018 and August 2022 as a supplement to 121,583 reaches from the "SWOT Mission River Database" (SWORD). To gain full advantage of ICESat-2's unique measurement geometry with six parallel lidar beams, the WSS is determined across pairs of beams or along individual beams, depending on the intersection angle of spacecraft orbit and river centerline. Combining both approaches maximizes spatial and temporal coverage. IRIS can be used to research river dynamics, estimate river discharge, and correct water level time series from satellite altimetry for shifting ground tracks. Additionally, by referencing SWORD as a common database, IRIS may be used in combination with observations from the recently launched SWOT mission.

Label-Free Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Cancer Detection.

Project description:Blood is a vital reservoir housing numerous disease-related metabolites and cellular components. Thus, it is also of interest for cancer diagnosis. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is widely used for molecular detection due to its very high sensitivity and multiplexing properties. Its real potential for cancer diagnosis is not yet clear. In this study, using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as substrates, a number of experimental parameters and scenarios were tested to disclose the potential for this technique for cancer diagnosis. The discrimination of serum samples from cancer patients, healthy individuals and patients with chronic diseases was successfully demonstrated with over 90% diagnostic accuracies. Moreover, the SERS spectra of the blood serum samples obtained from cancer patients before and after tumor removal were compared. It was found that the spectral pattern for serum from cancer patients evolved into the spectral pattern observed with serum from healthy individuals after the removal of tumors. The data strongly suggests that the technique has a tremendous potential for cancer detection and screening bringing the possibility of early detection onto the table.

Novelty detection in rover-based planetary surface images using autoencoders.

Project description:In the domain of planetary science, novelty detection is gaining attention because of the operational opportunities it offers, including annotated data products and downlink prioritization. Using a variational autoencoder (VAE), this work improves upon state-of-the-art novelty detection performance in the context of Martian exploration by >7% (measured by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC AUC)). Autoencoders, especially VAEs, perform well across all classes of novelties defined for Martian exploration. VAEs are shown to have high recall in the Martian context, making them particularly useful for on-ground processing. Convolutional autoencoders (CAEs), on the other hand, demonstrate high precision making them good candidates for onboard downlink prioritization. In our implementation adversarial autoencoders (AAEs) are also shown to perform on par with state-of-the-art. Dimensionality reduction is a key feature of autoencoders for novelty detection. In this study the impact of dimensionality reduction on detection quality is explored, showing that both VAEs and AAEs achieve comparable ROC AUCs to CAEs despite observably poorer (blurred) image reconstructions; this is observed both in Martian data and in lunar analogue data.
