Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Rhynocoris fuscipes (Fabricius 1787) (Hemiptera: Reduviidae).

ABSTRACT: Rhynocoris fuscipes (Fabricius 1787) is an important predator in China. In current study, the complete mitochondrial genome of R. fuscipes is determined. The mitogenome is 15,542 bp in size and comprises of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a control region. Gene arrangement is identical to that of the putative ancestral arrangement of insects. All protein-coding genes initiate with ATN codons and terminate with TAA codons except for COII, ND4, and ND5 use TA or a single T residue as the termination codons. All tRNAs have the clover-leaf structure except for the tRNA^Ser(AGN) and the length of them range from 62 to 70 bp. The phylogenetic result supports the monophyly of Harpactorinae and the sister relationship between R. fuscipes and Rhynocoris incertis.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the assassin bug Inara alboguttata, is determined using next-generation sequencing. The mitogenome is a typical circular DNA molecule of 15,436 bp long with a high AT bias (72.3%), containing 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a control region. Protein-coding genes all initiate with ATN codons and most of them terminate with TAA or TAG codons, whereas COI, ND3, and ND5 use a single T residue. The lrRNA and srRNA genes are 1247 bp and 766 bp in length, respectively. All tRNA genes have the cloverleaf secondary structure except for the tRNASer(AGN). The control region is 860 bp long with an A + T content of 68.2%. Phylogenetic result supports the sister relationship between I. alboguttata and Acanthaspis ruficeps.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the ambush bug, Amblythyreus gestroi (Hemiptera: Reduviidae).

Project description:The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Amblythyreus gestroi is described in the present paper. The complete mitogenome is a 15,228 bp circular DNA molecule, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes and a control region. Genome organization, nucleotide composition and codon usage of the mitogenome are noted, secondary structures of all tRNAs are predicted. The monophyly of Phymatinae is highly supported by the phylogenetic tree. Phylogenetic implications of the A. gestroi mitogenome is briefly discussed.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the assassin bug, Sycanus croceovittatus, was sequenced and analyzed in the present study. This mitogenome spans 15,644 bp in size with a high A + T content (71.7%), containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a putative control region. All protein-coding genes are initiated by ATN codons expect ND1 use GTG as start codons and terminated with TAG or TAA, expect COX3 use a single T-- residue as the stop codon. All tRNAs have the typical clover-leaf like structures except for tRNASer(AGN) . A phylogenetic analysis of S. croceovittatus and 33 other assassin bugs is also presented using 13 protein-coding genes and 2 rRNA genes. The result supports the monophyly of Harpactorinae and the sister relationship between S. croceovittatus and Agriosphodrus dohrni.

Our phylogenetic analysis supported the polyphyly of Reduviinae and the sister relationship between Reduvius gregoryi and Reduvius tenebrosus.

The architecture and complete sequence of mitochondrial genome of an assassin bug Agriosphodrus dohrni (Hemiptera: Reduviidae).

Project description:The 16, 470 bp nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of an assassin bug from the reduviid subfamily Harpactorinae, Agriosphodrus dohrni, has been revealed. The entire genome encodes for two ribosomal RNA genes (rrnL and rrnS), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 13 protein-coding genes, and a control region. The nucleotide composition is biased toward adenine and thymine (A+T = 72.2%). Comparative analysis with two other reduviid species Triatoma dimidiata and Valentia hoffmanni, exhibited highly conserved genome architectures including genome contents, gene order, nucleotide composition, codon usage, amino acid composition, as well as genome asymmetry. All protein-coding genes use standard mitochondrial initiation codons (methionine and isoleucine), except that nad1 starts with GTG. All tRNAs have the classic clover-leaf structure, except that the dihydrouridine (DHU) arm of tRNA(Ser(AGN)) forms a simple loop. Secondary structure comparisons of the two mitochondrial ribosomal subunits among sequenced assassin bugs show that the sequence and structure of rrnL is more conservative than that of rrnS. The presence of structural elements in the control region is also discussed, with emphasis on their implications in the regulation of replication and/or transcription of the reduviid mitogenome. The phylogenetic analyses indicated that within Reduviidae, Harpactorinae is a sister group to the Salyavatinae + Triatominae clade.

The genome sequence of the clay, Mythimna ferrago (Fabricius, 1787).

Project description:We present a genome assembly from an individual female Mythimna ferrago (the clay; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Noctuidae). The genome sequence is 861 megabases in span. The majority of the assembly (99.98%) is scaffolded into 32 chromosomal pseudomolecules, with the W and Z chromosomes assembled. The complete mitochondrial genome was also assembled and is 15.3 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl has identified 14,075 protein coding genes.
