ABSTRACT: We report here the whole-genome sequence and draft assembly for a bioherbicidal strain of Albifimbria verrucaria, CABI-IMI 368023, which was formerly identified as Myrothecium verrucaria. This isolate has been well studied for the biological control of important weeds, including kudzu and giant salvinia.

Whole genome sequence data of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum IMI 507027.

Project description:Here we report the draft genome sequence of the Lactiplantibacillus plantarum IMI 507027 strain. The genome consists of 37 contigs with a total size of 3,235,614 bp and a GC% of 44.51. After sequence trimming, 31 contigs were annotated, revealing 3,126 genes, of which 3,030 were coding sequences. The Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) gave a value of 99.9926% between IMI 507027 and L. plantarum JDM1, identifying the strain as L. plantarum. No genes of concern for safety-related traits such as antimicrobial resistance or virulence factors were found. The annotated genome and raw sequence reads were deposited at NCBI under Bioproject with the accession number PRJNA791753.

Draft genome sequence of the biocontrol bacterium Chromobacterium sp. strain C-61.

Project description:Chromobacterium sp. strain C-61 is a plant-associated bacterium with proven capacities to suppress plant diseases. Here, we report the draft genome sequence and automatic annotation of strain C-61. A comparison of this sequence to the sequenced genome of Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 12472 indicates the novelty of C-61 and a subset of gene functions that may be related to its biocontrol activities.

Draft Genome Sequence for the Tree Pathogen Phytophthora plurivora.

Project description:Species from the genus Phytophthora are well represented among organisms causing serious diseases on trees. Phytophthora plurivora has been implicated in long-term decline of woodland trees across Europe. Here we present a draft genome sequence of P. plurivora, originally isolated from diseased European beech (Fagus sylvatica) in Malmö, Sweden. When compared with other sequenced Phytophthora species, the P. plurivora genome assembly is relatively compact, spanning 41 Mb. This is organized in 1,919 contigs and 1,898 scaffolds, encompassing 11,741 predicted genes, and has a repeat content of approximately 15%. Comparison of allele frequencies revealed evidence for tetraploidy in the sequenced isolate. As in other sequenced Phytophthora species, P. plurivora possesses genes for pathogenicity-associated RXLR and Crinkle and Necrosis effectors, predominantly located in gene-sparse genomic regions. Comparison of the P. plurivora RXLR effectors with orthologs in other sequenced species in the same clade (Phytophthora multivora and Phytophthora capsici) revealed that the orthologs were likely to be under neutral or purifying selection.

Project description:Brevibacillus brevis strain FJAT-0809-GLX had significant inhibition on many plant and animal pathogens. The draft genome sequence of B. brevis FJAT-0809-GLX is 6 Mb in size and consists of 5,677 genes (protein-coding sequences [CDS]), with an average length of 933 bp and a G+C content of 47.30%. Compared with the published B. brevis strain NBRC 100599, 618 specific genes were identified in the strain FJAT-0809-GLX.
