Complete genome sequence of recombinant porcine circovirus type 2 strain SD-3.

Project description:We report here the genome sequence of a recombinant porcine circovirus type 2 strain SD-3, isolated from a commercial swine farm with an outbreak of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in pigs in Shandong Province of China. The complete circular genome of this isolate is 1,767 nucleotides in length. This recombinant isolate has the ORF1 regions from PCV2a viruses and ORF2 regions from PCV2b. The findings will help us to understand the molecular evolution of porcine circovirus type 2 and the relationship between porcine circovirus type 2 and disease.

Complete genome sequence of porcine circovirus 2b strain CC1.

Project description:A porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) strain, designated CC1, was isolated and purified from tissue samples from pigs with wasting syndromes in China. We report the complete genome sequence of PCV2b strain CC1 with a deletion of C at position 1053 resulting in elongation of open reading frame 2 (ORF2) and formation of ORF5. There were 11 ORFs in the genome.

Genome Sequence of a Novel Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Strain That Reemerged in Southern China.

Project description:Here, we describe a novel porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) variant (GD2014) found in the Guangdong province, southern China. Its complete genome is 1,766 nucleotides and contained a 708-nucleotide open reading frame 2 (ORF2). Sequence analysis suggested that GD2014 is closest to JS2015 originating from the Jiangsu province of China and belongs to the PCV2d genotype.

Whole-Genome Analysis of Porcine Circovirus Type 2 in Russia.

Project description:Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the causative agent of porcine circovirus-associated diseases (PCVAD) that bring about significant economic losses in the pig industry all over the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the genetic diversity of PCV2 in Russia and characterize the available complete genome sequences. PCV2 DNA was detected at all investigated farms located in different regions of Russia. Whole-genome analysis demonstrated that the majority of PCV2 strains belonged to genotype PCV2d (12 out of 14), while PCV2a and PCV2b were only detected at 2 farms (one at each). Further analysis revealed that all antibody recognition sites in Russian PCV2 strains were different from the corresponding epitopes in a PCV2a vaccine strain, suggesting that PCV2a-based vaccines may only provide limited protection against these strains. PCV2d strains could be grouped into 3 distinct lines which shared 98.7-100% identity within open reading frame 2 (ORF2). It is the first study reporting the genetic diversity of PCV2 strains in Russia. Our data indicated that, similarly to China, Europe, and USA, PCV2a and PCV2b have largely been replaced by PCV2d.

Complete genome sequence of the rearranged porcine circovirus type 2.

Project description:We first report here the genome sequences of 4 rearranged porcine circovirus type 2 strains, JSTZ, ZJQDH1, ZJQDH2, and JSHM, isolated from porcine sera in China. The complete circular genomes of these isolates are 578, 483, 574, and 772 nucleotides in length, respectively. They are predicted to be defective interfering particles of porcine circovirus type 2. The findings will help us to understand molecular evolution of porcine circovirus type 2 and the relationship between porcine circovirus type 2 and diseases.
