ABSTRACT: A new Ivoria species (Ivoriaalourouai sp. nov.) is described from Ivory Coast based on five females. The new species differs from the previously described congener (Ivoriataienesis Kontschán, 2019) based on the shape of female genital shield, dorsal setae, centro-caudal part of the marginal shield and peritremes.

Project description:Phymatodiscidaefam. nov. is diagnosed, with Phymatodiscus as the type genus. A new genus, Bardizongen. nov., with Bardizoneotvosisp. nov. (from Indonesia) as the type species, is erected to accommodate the Phymatodiscus species with an eye-like dorsal depression. Six Phymatodiscus species are reclassified as Bardizon: B.aokii (Hiramatsu, 1985), comb. nov., B.haradai (Hiramatsu, 1985), comb. nov., B.oculatus (Hirschmann, 1977), comb. nov., B.kuni (Kontschán & Starý, 2011), comb. nov., B.insolitus (Kontschán & Ripka, 2016), comb. nov., and B.malayicus (Kontschán & Starý, 2012), comb. nov. The new species differs from the previously described congeners in the sculptural pattern, the shapes of the dorsal and ventral setae, and the sculptural pattern of the sternal shield of the male and the genital shield of the female. A list of all known phymatodiscid species is presented. Phymatodiscustitanicus (Berlese, 1905) is moved to the genus Bostocktrachys: B.titanicus (Berlese, 1905), comb. nov. (family Trachyuropodidae).

Project description:The Genus Gaeolaelaps Evans & Till, 1966 is currently one of the largest genera of the family Laelapidae Berlese. The known representatives of this genus are active predators of small invertebrates such as other mites, insect eggs and nematodes. Gaeolaelaps iranicus Kavianpour & Nemati sp. n., was collected from soil and litter in various parts of Iran. The description and figures of this species are given. Additions to the genus Gimesia: description of Gimesia alba sp. nov., Gimesia algae sp. nov., Gimesia aquarii sp. nov., Gimesia aquatilis sp. nov., Gimesia fumaroli sp. nov. and Gimesia panareensis sp. nov., isolated from aquatic habitats of the Northern Hemisphere.

Project description:Thirteen novel planctomycetal strains were isolated from five different aquatic sampling locations. These comprise the hydrothermal vent system close to Panarea Island (Italy), a biofilm on the surface of kelp at Monterey Bay (CA, USA), sediment and algae on Mallorca Island (Spain) and Helgoland Island (Germany), as well as a seawater aquarium in Braunschweig, Germany. All strains were shown to belong to the genus Gimesia. Their genomes cover a size range from 7.22 to 8.29 Mb and have a G+C content between 45.1 and 53.7%. All strains are mesophilic (Topt 26-33 °C) with generation times between 12 and 32 h. Analysis of fatty acids yielded palmitic acid (16:0) and a fatty acid with the equivalent chain length of 15.817 as major compounds. While five of the novel strains belong to the already described species Gimesia maris and Gimesia chilikensis, the other strains belong to novel species, for which we propose the names Gimesia alba (type strain Pan241wT = DSM 100744T = LMG 31345T = CECT 9841T = VKM B-3430T), Gimesia algae (type strain Pan161T = CECT 30192T = STH00943T = LMG 29130T), Gimesia aquarii (type strain V144T = DSM 101710T = VKM B-3433T), Gimesia fumaroli (type strain Enr17T = DSM 100710T = VKM B-3429T) and Gimesia panareensis (type strain Enr10T = DSM 100416T = LMG 29082T). STH numbers refer to the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC).

Project description:In this study the taxonomy of the Pheidolepulchella species group is updated for the Afrotropical region and the new species P.klaman sp. nov. described. It is integrated into the existing taxonomic system by an updated identification key for the whole group and an update of the known distribution ranges of its members. High quality focus stacking images are provided, with X-ray micro-CT scanned digital 3D representations, of major and minor worker type specimens.

Limnohabitans planktonicus sp. nov. and Limnohabitans parvus sp. nov., planktonic betaproteobacteria isolated from a freshwater reservoir, and emended description of the genus Limnohabitans.

Project description:Two bacterial strains, II-B4(T) and II-D5(T), isolated from the meso-eutrophic freshwater Římov reservoir (Czech Republic), were characterized phenotypically, phylogenetically and chemotaxonomically. Both strains were chemo-organotrophic, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile rods, with identical DNA G+C contents of 59.9&emsp14;mol%. Their major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine and their major fatty acids were C(16 : 1)ω7c/C(16 : 1)ω6c, C(16 : 0), C(18 : 1)ω7c/C(18 : 1)ω6c and C(12 : 0). Both strains contained Q-8 as the only respiratory quinone component. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the two strains possessed 99.1 % similarity; however, the level of DNA-DNA reassociation was only 26.7 %. The strains can also be discriminated from each other by several chemotaxonomic and biochemical traits. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed the affiliation of both strains with the genus Limnohabitans within the family Comamonadaceae. The two investigated strains represent the first isolated members of a narrow phylogenetic cluster (the so-called R-BT065 cluster) formed by a large number of environmental sequences and abundant populations detected in the pelagic zones of various freshwater habitats. We propose to place the two strains in separate novel species within the genus Limnohabitans, Limnohabitans planktonicus sp. nov., with the type strain II-D5(T) (=DSM 21594(T) =CIP 109844(T)), and Limnohabitans parvus sp. nov., with the type strain II-B4(T) (=DSM 21592(T) =CIP 109845(T)). The description of the genus Limnohabitans is emended accordingly.

Description of Flavobacterium fructosi sp. nov., Flavobacterium xylosi sp. nov. and Flavobacterium zhouii sp. nov., three new members of the genus Flavobacterium.

Project description:Three novel strains, designated LB3P45T, LS2P90T and ZS1P70T, were isolated from glaciers located on the Tibetan Plateau, PR China. These strains were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and yellow or orange coloured. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and genomic sequences indicated that they belong to the genus Flavobacterium. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity among the three strains ranged from 97.4 to 98.6%. Strain LB3P45T showed 98.9% and 98.7% similarity to Flavobacterium urumqiense CGMCC 1.9230T and Flavobacterium xinjiangense JCM 11314T, respectively. Strain LS2P90T displayed 99.0% and 98.7% similarity to F. xinjiangense JCM 11314T and F. urumqiense CGMCC 1.9230T. Strain ZS1P70T had the highest sequence similarity with F. xinjiangense JCM 11314T (98.0%) and F. urumqiense CGMCC 1.9230T (97.8%). The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between these strains and their closest relatives were lower than 93.0% and 47.9%, respectively. All three strains contained summed feature 3 (comprising C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c) as the major fatty acids. Based on phenotypic characteristics, phylogenetic analysis and genotypic data, the three novel species are proposed: Flavobacterium fructosi sp. nov. (LB3P45T=CGMCC 1.11439T=NBRC 114819T), Flavobacterium xylosi sp. nov. (LS2P90T=CGMCC 1.11685T=NBRC 114823T) and Flavobacterium zhouii sp. nov. (ZS1P70T=CGMCC 1.24124T=NBRC 114829T).

Robertkochia solimangrovi sp. nov., isolated from mangrove soil, and emended description of the genus Robertkochia.

Project description:To date, there is sparse information for the genus Robertkochia with Robertkochia marina CC-AMO-30DT as the only described member. We report here a new species isolated from mangrove soil collected at Malaysia Tanjung Piai National Park and perform polyphasic characterization to determine its taxonomic position. Strain CL23T is a Gram-negative, yellow-pigmented, strictly aerobic, catalase-positive and oxidase-positive bacterium. The optimal growth conditions were determined to be at pH 7.0, 30-37 °C and in 1-2 % (w/v) NaCl. The major respiratory quinone was menaquinone-6 (MK-6) and the highly abundant polar lipids were four unidentified lipids, a phosphatidylethanolamine and two unidentified aminolipids. The 16S rRNA gene similarity between strain CL23T and R. marina CC-AMO-30DT is 96.67 %. Strain CL23T and R. marina CC-AMO-30DT clustered together and were distinguished from taxa of closely related genera in 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis. Genome sequencing revealed that strain CL23T has a genome size of 4.4 Mbp and a G+C content of 40.72 mol%. Overall genome related indexes including digital DNA-DNA hybridization value and average nucleotide identity are 17.70 % and approximately 70%, below the cutoffs of 70 and 95%, respectively, indicated that strain CL23T is a distinct species from R. marina CC-AMO-30DT. Collectively, based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic evidences presented here, strain CL23T is proposed to represent a new species with the name Robertkochia solimangrovi sp. nov. (KCTC 72252T=LMG 31418T). An emended description of the genus Robertkochia is also proposed.
