Calorie restriction abates aging and cardiometabolic disease by activating metabolic signaling pathways, including nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD<sup>+</sup>) biosynthesis and salvage. Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) is rate-limiting in NAD<sup>+</sup> salvage, yet hepatocyte NAMPT actions during fasting and metabolic duress remain unclear.
