Intraoperative near-infrared fluorescence (NIR) imaging with indocyanine green (ICG) can demonstrate real-time lymphatic drainage and thus improve the accuracy and completeness of lymphadenectomy in colorectal cancer surgery. However, it has not been utilized in the inguinal lymphadenectomy in rectal cancer. This study aimed to describe a case of combined laparoscopic lymphadenectomy of left lateral pelvic and inguinal nodal metastases using NIR imaging with ICG imaging guidance for a rectal cancer patient with left lateral pelvic and inguinal lymph node metastases.Case presentation
