A search for alternative <i>Mycobacterium abscessus</i> treatments led to our interest in the two-component regulator DosRS, which, in <i>Mycobacterium tuberculosis</i>, is required for the bacterium to establish a state of nonreplicating, drug-tolerant persistence in response to a variety of host stresses.
