Complete Genome Sequences of Five Bacteriophages That Infect Enterobacteriales Hosts.

ABSTRACT: Full genome sequences of five bacteriophages that were isolated from raw sewage samples and infect Enterobacteriales hosts are presented. Brookers is a P22-like Proteus phage, OddieOddie is a 9g-like Escherichia coli phage, Diencephelon is a Kp3-like Klebsiella phage, and Rgz1 and Lilpapawes are classic T4-like and T7-like virulent Proteus phages, respectively.

ChubbyThor was isolated using Shigella boydii.

Complete genome sequences of bacteriophages P12002L and P12002S, two lytic phages that infect a marine Polaribacter strain.

Project description:The bacterial genus Polaribacter is distributed widely in marine environments; however, there have been no reports of phages infecting Polaribacter strains. Here, we describe the isolation and genome sequencing of two lytic siphophages, P12002L and P12002S, that infect Polaribacter sp. strain IMCC12002. The two phages and host strain were isolated from coastal seawater of Korea. Complete genome sequences of the two phages were similar to each other and about 50 kb in length, with a G + C content of 28.9 %. The two genomes showed typical characteristics of phage genomes: a modular structure and high proportion of hypothetical proteins. The genome sequences have been deposited in GenBank under accession numbers KR136259 (P12002L) and KR136260 (P12002S).

Project description:Cluster BG of the actinobacteriophage was formed upon discovery of five novel bacteriophages isolated by enrichment from their host, Streptomyces griseus subsp. griseus strain ATCC 10137. Four members of this cluster (BabyGotBac, Maih, TP1605, and YDN12) share over 89% average nucleotide identity, while the other (Xkcd426) has only 72% similarity to other cluster members.
