Using the equations which describe the oxide thickness as a function of the oxidation time and temperature in the thermal oxidation of Si, various experimental results on the oxidation and corrosion of metals and alloys available in the literature are analyzed. By the analyses, it is found that the weight loss of copper by atmospheric corrosion and the weight gains of austenitic stainless steel and Ni-Cr alloy by high temperature oxidation follow a time-dependent power law in which both diffusio ...[more]
