The tobacco-specific <i>N</i>-nitrosamines 4-(<i>N</i>-nitrosomethylamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) and <i>N</i>'-nitrosonornicotine (NNN) always occur together and exclusively in tobacco products or in environments contaminated by tobacco smoke.
