Management of scleroderma gastrointestinal disease: Lights and shadows.


ABSTRACT: Gastrointestinal symptoms affect the great majority of patients with systemic sclerosis. Management of these complications is often challenging as any region of the gastrointestinal tract may be involved, and significant heterogeneity exists in clinical presentation, kinetics, and outcomes. Here, we highlight new findings relevant to the management of systemic sclerosis-related gastrointestinal disease (lights) and consider areas that we have yet to elucidate (shadows).
