Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) is an essential enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of DNA building blocks in virtually all living cells. NrdR, an RNR-specific repressor, controls the transcription of RNR genes and, often, its own, in most bacteria and some archaea.
