Liposomal amphotericin B (AmB) or AmBisome<sup>®</sup> is the most effective and safe therapeutic agent for visceral leishmaniasis (VL), but its clinical efficacy is limited in cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) and HIV/VL co-infection.
