The complete mitochondrial genome of Pareuchiloglanis feae (Siluriformes, Sisoridae, Pareuchiloglanis): genome characterization and phylogenetic analysis.

ABSTRACT: Pareuchiloglanis feae is mainly distributed in Irrawaddy (China and Myanmar), Salween (China and Myanmar), and the Yangtze River drainage areas. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of P. feae, which has a circular structure of 16,863 bp, including 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and a non-coding control region (D-loop), is being reported for the first time. The A, T, C, and G content were 31.36, 15.69, 28.04, and 24.91%, respectively. Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood method showed that P. feae clustered with P. anteanalis and P. sichuanensis. Our results provide further information and references for clarifying the phylogenetic relationships within Glyptosternoid fishes.

In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of P. gongshanensis was sequenced to be 16 588 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, a control region and the origin of the light strand replication. The overall nucleotide composition was 30.70% A, 24.11% T, 29.16% C and 16.02% G, with an A + T bias of 54.82%. The gene composition and the structural arrangement of the P. gongshanensis complete mitochondrial DNA were identical to most of the other vertebrates. This will provide a useful tool for understanding the genetic diversity, population structure and conservation status of P. gongshanensis in the future.

The complete mitogenome of Pareuchiloglanis sichuanensis (Siluriformes: Sisoridae).

Project description:Pareuchiloglanis sichuanensis is an endemic fish species in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of P. sichuanensis was analyzed. The mitochondrial genome, consisting of 16,774 base pairs (bp), included 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs, 22 transfer RNAs, and a non-coding control region. The phylogenetic tree showed that P. sichuanensis was closely related to P. anteanalis. These results provid the useful information for further studies on taxonomic status, molecular systematics, and stock evaluation.

The complete mitogenome and phylogeny analysis of Pareuchiloglanis longicauda (Yue, 981) (Siluriformes: Sisoridae).

Project description:Pareuchiloglanis longicauda, a Sisorid fish that is distributed in the upper Pearl River. In this study, the complete mitogenome of P. longicauda was sequenced using traditional Sanger sequencing approach. The 16,588 bp genome was consisted of 2 rRNAs, 22tRNAs, 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and 1 control region. The 13 PCGs started with a traditional ATG and end with stop codon TAA, TAG, TGA, TA or a single T base. Phylogenetic analysis based on 13 PCGs from 22 species using maximum-likelihood method produced three major clades (Clade I, II and III). Unexpectedly, our mitogenome exhibited only 92.12% identity to the previously published one (GenBank accession no. KP872693) with differences mainly located in the gene region. Furthermore, Pareuchiloglanis did not form a monophyletic genus and P. longicauda had the closest relationship with P. macrotrema. The result suggested that more complete mitogenomes are needed to reveal the phylogenetic placement of Pareuchiloglanis in the family Sisoridae.

Project description:Pareuchiloglanis myzostoma is a key-listed protected indigenous fish species in Nujiang, Yunnan, China. In this study, we firstly reported the complete mitochondrial genome of P. myzostoma, which was 16,584 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and a non-coding control region (D-loop). The overall base composition of P. myzostoma was 30.7% for A, 24.2% for T, 16.0% for G, and 29.1% for C. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all Sisoridae species clustered together formed a monophyletic group. This work would provide a set of useful data on further molecular evolution studies of this precious species.

Project description:Glyptothorax deqinensis is a small endangered Sisoridae fish mainly distributed in the southwest of China. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of G. deqinensis was firstly sequenced. The total length of the G. deqinensis mitogenome is 16,542 bp, including 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a control region. Among these genes, 28 are encoded by the H-strand and 9 by the L-strand. The information mitogenome obtained herein will provide useful tools for future studies on population genetic and phylogenetic analyses of this fish.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the rare Fea's muntjac (Muntiacus feae) was sequenced (GenBank accession nos. MG857662-MG857664). The mitogenome was found to be 16,355 bp in length with base compositions of 33.16% A, 24.59% C, 13.46% G, and 28.78% T and a GC content of 38.06%. The genome is comprised of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a control region (D-loop). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Fea's muntjac is more closely related to Black muntjac (M. cronifrons) than to Red muntjac (M. muntjak). These data will be useful for further studies on the genetic diversity and molecular phylogenetic relationship of the genus Muntiacus.
