Deep fake detection using cascaded deep sparse auto-encoder for effective feature selection.

ABSTRACT: In the recent research era, artificial intelligence techniques have been used for computer vision, big data analysis, and detection systems. The development of these advanced technologies has also increased security and privacy issues. One kind of this issue is Deepfakes which is the combined word of deep learning and fake. DeepFake refers to the formation of a fake image or video using artificial intelligence approaches which are created for political abuse, fake data transfer, and pornography. This paper has developed a Deepfake detection method by examining the computer vision features of the digital content. The computer vision features based on the frame change are extracted using a proposed deep learning model called the Cascaded Deep Sparse Auto Encoder (CDSAE) trained by temporal CNN. The detection process is performed using a Deep Neural Network (DNN) to classify the deep fake image/video from the real image/video. The proposed model is implemented using Face2Face, FaceSwap, and DFDC datasets which have secured an improved detection rate when compared to the traditional deep fake detection approaches.

Project description:BackgroundNerve discharge is the carrier of information transmission, which can reveal the basic rules of various nerve activities. Recognition of the nerve discharge rhythm is the key to correctly understand the dynamic behavior of the nervous system. The previous methods for the nerve discharge recognition almost depended on the traditional statistical features, and the nonlinear dynamical features of the discharge activity. The artificial extraction and the empirical judgment of the features were required for the recognition. Thus, these methods suffered from subjective factors and were not conducive to the identification of a large number of discharge rhythms.ResultsThe ability of automatic feature extraction along with the development of the neural network has been greatly improved. In this paper, an effective discharge rhythm classification model based on sparse auto-encoder was proposed. The sparse auto-encoder was used to construct the feature learning network. The simulated discharge data from the Chay model and its variants were taken as the input of the network, and the fused features, including the network learning features, covariance and approximate entropy of nerve discharge, were classified by Softmax. The results showed that the accuracy of the classification on the testing data was 87.5%, which could provide more accurate classification results. Compared with other methods for the identification of nerve discharge types, this method could extract the characteristics of nerve discharge rhythm automatically without artificial design, and show a higher accuracy.ConclusionsThe sparse auto-encoder, even neural network has not been used to classify the basic nerve discharge from neither biological experiment data nor model simulation data. The automatic classification method of nerve discharge rhythm based on the sparse auto-encoder in this paper reduced the subjectivity and misjudgment of the artificial feature extraction, saved the time for the comparison with the traditional method, and improved the intelligence of the classification of discharge types. It could further help us to recognize and identify the nerve discharge activities in a new way.

Project description:BackgroundMolecular interaction networks summarize complex biological processes as graphs, whose structure is informative of biological function at multiple scales. Simultaneously, omics technologies measure the variation or activity of genes, proteins, or metabolites across individuals or experimental conditions. Integrating the complementary viewpoints of biological networks and omics data is an important task in bioinformatics, but existing methods treat networks as discrete structures, which are intrinsically difficult to integrate with continuous node features or activity measures. Graph neural networks map graph nodes into a low-dimensional vector space representation, and can be trained to preserve both the local graph structure and the similarity between node features.ResultsWe studied the representation of transcriptional, protein-protein and genetic interaction networks in E. coli and mouse using graph neural networks. We found that such representations explain a large proportion of variation in gene expression data, and that using gene expression data as node features improves the reconstruction of the graph from the embedding. We further proposed a new end-to-end Graph Feature Auto-Encoder framework for the prediction of node features utilizing the structure of the gene networks, which is trained on the feature prediction task, and showed that it performs better at predicting unobserved node features than regular MultiLayer Perceptrons. When applied to the problem of imputing missing data in single-cell RNAseq data, the Graph Feature Auto-Encoder utilizing our new graph convolution layer called FeatGraphConv outperformed a state-of-the-art imputation method that does not use protein interaction information, showing the benefit of integrating biological networks and omics data with our proposed approach.ConclusionOur proposed Graph Feature Auto-Encoder framework is a powerful approach for integrating and exploiting the close relation between molecular interaction networks and functional genomics data.
