Complete Genome Sequence of Staphylococcus arlettae AHKW2e, Isolated from a Dog's Paws in Hong Kong.

ABSTRACT: Staphylococcus arlettae is commonly found on the skin of animals. Here, we describe the complete genome sequence of S. arlettae AHKW2e (2,649,260 bp; GC content, 33.6%), isolated from a dog's paws in Hong Kong, established through hybrid assembly and representing the second complete genome sequence of this species.

Project description:We report the whole-genome sequence of a tdh- and trh-negative Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain, V110, from shrimp. The major difference of V110 from clinical strains was its lack of the type III secretion system T3SS2, a key component of virulence. Further sequence comparison can shed light on the pathogenesis of V. parahaemolyticus.

Complete genome sequence of a novel feline astrovirus from a domestic cat in Hong Kong.

Project description:We report the first complete genome sequence of a feline astrovirus (FAstV), FAstV2 strain 1637F, identified from a domestic cat. The genome is 6,779 nucleotides (nt) in length and consists of three overlapping open reading frames (ORF1a-ORF1b-ORF2). Sequence analysis suggests that FAstV2 represents a new FAstV genotype that is closely related to human astroviruses.

Project description:We report the nearly complete genome of a norovirus GII.4 Hong Kong[P31] variant (GII strain Hu/HK/2019/GII.4 Hong Kong[P31]/CUHK-NS-2200) that was detected in a patient with gastroenteritis in August 2019. The genome was sequenced by metagenomic next-generation sequencing and was found to have 92.8% nucleotide similarity to the closest GII.4 norovirus sequence in GenBank.

Project description:The complete genome sequence of a novel recombinant GII.Pe_GII.17 norovirus strain, tentatively named GII.17 Hong Kong 2015, was determined. RNA-dependent RNA polymerase has 95.6% and 98.4% and viral protein 1 has 90.6% and 95.9% identity at the nucleotide and amino acid levels, respectively, to the closest sequences in GenBank.

Complete genome sequences of novel canine noroviruses in Hong Kong.

Project description:We report the complete genome sequences of two novel isolates of norovirus isolated from the fecal swab specimens of dogs in Hong Kong. The complete viral genome is approximately 7.6 kb in length and consists of 3 overlapping open reading frames encoding the ORF1 polyprotein, VP1, and VP2, respectively. Analysis of the VP1 sequence suggested that these noroviruses are divergent from known noroviruses and may represent a novel phylogenetic clade within the genus.

Project description:We report two genome sequences of novel noroviruses isolated from fecal swab specimens of brown rats in Hong Kong. The complete genome is approximately 7.5 kb in length and consists of 3 overlapping open reading frames encoding ORF1 polyprotein, VP1, and VP2, respectively. Sequence analysis suggested that these noroviruses should be classified in genogroup V, but they are distinct from other known rodent noroviruses and represent a novel cluster within the genogroup.
