<i>Synechococcus</i> sp. PCC 11901 reportedly demonstrates the highest, most sustained growth of any known cyanobacterium under optimized conditions. Due to its recent discovery, our knowledge of its biology, including the factors underlying sustained, fast growth, is limited.
